Primary Job Function:

The Reynoldsburg City Schools’ Speech Language Pathologist is responsible for identifying, assessing, and providing specialized intervention for students with communication disorders, including impairments in language, articulation, fluency, voice, and social pragmatics. The SLP works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure students have functional communication access to the general education curriculum and meet their Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
  • Valid Ohio Pupil Services License (Speech-Language Pathologist) issued by the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce.
  • Valid Ohio Speech and Hearing Professionals Board License.
  • Successful completion of a BCI/FBI criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Experience in a K-12 public school setting.
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills.

Therapeutic Intervention (OTES Aligned)

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based speech and language therapy to individuals or small groups to remediate communication delays.

Assessment & Diagnosis (OTES Aligned)

  • Select, administer, and interpret standardized and dynamic assessments to determine eligibility for special education services through the Evaluation Team Report (ETR) process.

IEP Development (OTES Aligned)

  • Draft measurable, data-driven goals and objectives and determine appropriate service minutes based on individual student needs and research-based clinical expertise.

Differentiated Instruction (OTES Aligned)

  • Modify therapeutic activities to meet the diverse cognitive and physical needs of students, ensuring alignment with Ohio Learning Standards.

Consultative Services

  • Support classroom teachers in implementing accommodations, such as FM systems, AAC devices, and communication visual supports to assist in skill carryover.

Documentation & Medicaid Billing

  • Maintain rigorous records of service minutes, complete quarterly progress reports, and accurately submit Medicaid billing for eligible students in a timely manner.

Meeting Participation & Case Management

  • Serve as an active member of IEP and ETR teams, leading meetings when assigned as case manager and answering parent questions regarding clinical results.

Data Analysis

  • Regularly collect and analyze student performance data to adjust interventions and report progress to stakeholders.

Stakeholder Communication

  • Consult with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding student progress, advocacy, and demeanor in the classroom setting.

Building Operations

  • Participate in building-level duties, such as car rider dismissal or arrival, and attend general staff meetings as assigned by the Building Principal.

Professionalism & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current with research-based practices, assistive technology (AAC), and changes in Ohio School Law and special education regulations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


Knowledge of:

  • Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES) standards.
  • Federal (IDEA) and State (Operating Standards) special education laws.
  • ETR and IEP processes and documentation systems (e.g., SameGoal).
  • Medicaid billing protocols and compliance requirements.

Skilled in:

  • Clinical diagnosis of articulation, language, fluency, and social-communication disorders.
  • Programming and implementing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices.
  • Standardized and dynamic assessment administration protocols.

Ability to:

  • Manage a diverse caseload across multiple buildings if necessary.
  • Communicate complex clinical findings to non-clinical audiences including parents and general education staff.
  • Meet strict legal deadlines and work under a minimum of direction.

Physical Demands
– While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with others. The employee is required to sit or stand and move around for extended periods of time. While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to push, pull, lift and carry over 25 pounds on occasion.

Working Conditions – The employee in this position may experience occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue. The employee may also be required to interact with unruly children.

Driving Requirement – This position may require driving to various school sites or events.
