Job Overview:

The position is responsible for promoting a safe and healthy work environment and responsible for promoting and driving continuous improvement of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) systems that result in the reduction of incidents and ensure regulatory compliance. This position is also responsible for assisting in developing and directing the implementation of safety programs and assuring management takes the actions needed to raise employee awareness regarding safety, conditions, and workload. 

Key Responsibilities and Essential Tasks (previously named Roles, Responsibilities and Tasks):

  • Collaborate with management and customers to develop, prepare, and implement safety and security policies and procedures. Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Provide assistance to project and construction management in addressing safety/health issues as they arise during project execution.
  • Conduct safety assessments/inspections of project construction activities to monitor compliance with safety/health requirements including contractual commitments, laws and regulations, and the project’s Environmental, Safety & Health (EH&S) plan.
  • Conduct investigations into injuries, motor vehicle accidents, spills, discharges, theft, vandalism, property damages and develop report including root cause analysis. Report to Corporate safety department. 
  • Conduct safety & compliance training for supervisors & field employees, including new hire orientations. 
  • Prepare reports to document audits and inspections, Method of Procedure (MOP) and critical activity plans. 
  • Submit recommendations for improvements and additions to the safety management program including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management.
  • Stop operations and activities that expose staff or equipment to dangerous conditions.
  • Ensure project compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Compensation: 

Rex Moore pays hourly/salary rates commensurate with each employee’s knowledge, experience and skill level.  

Work environment: 

Works directly with other project-level functional leads (e.g., engineering, construction design) to assist them in integrating and/or addressing the applicable safety/health requirements in their work products and activities.

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (previously named Qualifications):

  • 3 years’ safety experience in a construction setting. Working knowledge of injury prevention, compliance, and risk reduction techniques. 
  • Must possess OSHA 30 construction certificate. 
  • Preferred if STSC or higher safety certification or attainable within 1 year.  
  • Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations as applied to construction and general industry. 
  • First Aid, CPR & AED certifications, must be willing to lead in an emergency event. 
  • Previous electrical system installation experience is preferred (solar installation experience is a plus). 
  • Competent Person: Electrical safety NFPA 70E, Excavation, Fall protection and Confined space.
  • Self-driven, willing to work alone or as part of a team on assigned tasks and initiatives.
  • Ability to work split shifts, overtime, weekends and travel as needed.
  • Computer literacy and ability including Microsoft applications: Word, Excel, Power Point
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, supervisory and leadership skills.
     

Physical Requirements: 

  • Occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach with hands and arms at waist level and below the waist; and work in limited space.
  • Regularly required to talk in order to communicate detailed and accurate information.
  • Regularly required to hear with or without correction in order to receive and interpret detailed information and instructions.
  • Regularly required to sit for long and short periods at a time at a desk.
  • Regularly required to walk for long and short distances in order to accomplish job tasks.
  • Regularly required to reach: ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) including reaching in front of body, at shoulder level.
  • Ability to see with or without correction.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
