About the role
The Role
As part of Reworld’s corporate environmental and sustainability team, the Manager will lead our corporate sustainability reporting programs with a focus on external communication to stakeholders, including investors, community members, potential and existing customers/clients, and policymakers. The role will develop sustainability messaging through collateral and sales material as well as other written materials. The role will also develop, implement, and maintain sustainability reports and programs to help advance our own performance, assist customers with their sustainability goals, and report on our progress. Given Reworld’s leadership in sustainable waste management, this position will have an opportunity to directly impact business development, customer service and sales. We are looking for a creative, dynamic, and passionate individual who can help Reworld and our clients advance toward more sustainable materials management and renewable energy, including through innovative sustainability services and products.
Work Location: Morristown, NJ
Work Schedule: Hybrid (3 days in office 2 days from home)
Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead & champion corporate sustainability disclosures and reports to external parties, including CDP, TCFD, EcoVadis, and annual sustainability reporting in accordance with GRI.
- Communicate sustainability content and messaging to leadership, customers, and community partners.
- Monitor and communicate evolving sustainability regulations and their impact on operations.
- Oversee 3rd party validation of data. Prepare and deliver data summaries and presentations on sustainability performance and compliance to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with site teams on development of sustainability metrics and manage data processes, including through sustainability data management software.
- Monitor and communicate evolving sustainability regulations and their impact on operations.
- Lead initiatives to advance sustainable waste management services.
- Work closely with sales, business development, government relations and community outreach teams to develop sustainability related content and messaging.
- Participate in trade associations and mentor EHS staff to advance a strong sustainability culture and brand.
Candidate Profile:
The successful candidate will be highly motivated to bring real sustainable solutions in the areas of materials management and energy to our customers and other stakeholders. This individual must have 8 years of experience in sustainability in a corporate setting with demonstrated ability to develop sustainability solutions to stakeholders. You will bring a proven capability in communicating with diverse levels of stakeholders, including existing and potential customers, community members, and policymakers. You will also possess expertise in communicating corporate messages to community groups. The successful candidate will be able to work in a variety of team environments, including with sales, marketing, and business development teams.
Specifically, the successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of Bachelor of Science Degree in related scientific, engineering, environmental, or sustainability disciplines.
- Master of Science degree preferred
- At least 8 years’ experience in sustainability in a corporate environment, including at least 4 years leading sustainability projects.
- Experience with lifecycle inventories and analysis and GHG reporting.
- Experience in developing annual corporate sustainability and/or ESG reports and responding to ratings & rankings requests.
- Experience with voluntary renewable, carbon, and sustainability credit markets.
- Experience with water and air permits, carbon offsets, and renewable energy certificates (RECs) is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to clearly articulate complex concepts to a variety of audiences including through presentations.
- Ability to travel as needed (30%).
