REW Music is seeking a passionate, accomplished, and dependable music educator to serve as the Assistant Director of Homeschool Bands. This is an important leadership position within our Homeschool Music Program and is ideal for an individual who values excellence in music education, enjoys investing in the lives of students, and desires to become an integral part of a collaborative and thriving teaching team.
The Assistant Director will work alongside the Director in teaching, conducting, and helping lead multiple Band ensembles while maintaining the high musical standards and positive learning environment that define our program. This position is far more than classroom assistance. The successful candidate will play an active role in directing ensembles, leading rehearsals, mentoring students, and contributing to the continued growth and excellence of the program.

Position Details
· Part-time position following the Homeschool academic calendar.
· Typical schedule: Tuesday, 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
· Teach and assist with multiple Band ensembles and Jazz Band each Tuesday.
· Opportunities for increased conducting and leadership responsibilities based upon experience, ability, and demonstrated excellence.
· Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities Include
· Assist in directing and teaching beginning through advanced Band ensembles.
· Conduct rehearsals and provide sectional instruction as assigned.
· Lead ensembles and classroom instruction as needed.
· Prepare students and ensembles for concerts and performances.
· Demonstrate fundamental performance techniques on Band instruments.
· Assist with tuning, classroom preparation, and instructional support as needed.
· Work collaboratively with the Director and instructional staff in maintaining the musical and educational excellence of the program.
· Provide substitute teaching support when needed.
· Invest in the musical, personal, and educational growth of students while modeling professionalism, integrity, humility, and servant leadership.
· Foster an environment that encourages students to pursue excellence while demonstrating respect, personal accountability, and encouragement toward others.
Typical Tuesday Schedule
· 8:00 AM – Prepare classroom and instruments.
· 8:30 AM – Beginning Band (ends at 9:50 AM).
· 10:00 AM – Symphony Band (ends at 11:15 AM).
· 12:00 PM – Full Philharmonic Orchestra (approximately 25 minutes, 6- 10 week semester.)
· 12:30 PM – Wind ensemble (ends at 1:50 PM).
· 2:00 PM – Jazz Band (ends at 3:20 PM).
Special Events
Applicants should be available for the following events:
· Front Porch Concert – Friday, September 25 (approximately 5:00 PM – 7:30 PM).
· Concert Preparation Day – Friday, December 4:
o 7:30 AM truck loading at REW Music.
o Venue setup and rehearsal responsibilities throughout the day.
· Concert Day – Saturday, December 5. 8:00 - 3:30
· Substitute teaching all classes onetime during the academic year.
Qualifications
· Music Education degree preferred.
· Experience teaching Band students from beginning through advanced levels.
· Strong conducting skills are required.
· Jazz Band teaching and/or performance experience is required.
· Ability to demonstrate fundamental performance techniques on Band instruments.
· Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
· Dependable, punctual, and able to work collaboratively with a teaching team.
· Positive attitude and a servant-hearted approach to working with students and families.
· Retired music educators are encouraged to apply.
