Position Summary

Revolution Space is seeking a passionate, talented, and results-driven Test Technician to operate and maintain test equipment to evaluate the performance and quality of space-related hardware, such as components, sub-assemblies, and entire systems. This includes setting up test stands, conducting various tests (e.g. pneumatic, hydraulic, thermal, and electrical), troubleshooting issues, fabricating and repairing hardware, and meticulously documenting test results for engineering teams. Assist technical teams with recommendations to resolve testing problems, roadblocks or equipment malfunctions that impact the performance or validity of testing.

The position is full-time, on site at the Boston, MA location.

Responsibilities

  • Perform functional, acceptance, and qualification testing on space-related hardware and systems according to engineering specifications.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot a variety of test equipment, including high-pressure systems, electrical test equipment, and data acquisition systems.
  • Collaborate with design, manufacturing and systems engineers to troubleshoot failures, resolve technical problems, and provide feedback on designs.
  • Maintain test equipment and a clean, organized work area, including managing inventory of spare parts and materials.
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate test stands and specialized equipment to conduct tests like pneumatic, hydraulic, thermal, vibration, and electrical performance tests.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and repair experimental and production flight hardware, test fixtures, and cable harnesses using hand tools, crimpers, and soldering equipment.
  • Identify, document, and escalate non-conformances or test failures.
  • Repair or replace faulty components as needed.
  • Record and interpret test data.
  • Prepare detailed reports summarizing procedures, results, and recommendations.
  • Ensure all work is documented thoroughly and accurately.
  • Ensure all testing adheres to industry standards and safety protocols.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years in aerospace/satellite component development or testing.
  • Familiarity with oscilloscopes, DMMs, function generators, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, DAQ systems (LabVIEW, etc.).
  • Strong skills in electromechanical assembly, soldering, crimping, reading schematics/blueprints, and IPC standards.
  • Experience setting up fixtures, using basic machine tools (mills, lathes), rigging, and handling heavy equipment.
  • Experience collecting, recording, and analyzing test data; experience with data acquisition systems.
  • Familiarity with AS9100/ISO 9000, ESD protocols, and cleanroom procedures.  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with thermal vacuum (TVAC), vibration tables, acoustic, shock, and EMI/EMC testing.
  • Accurate record-keeping and clear communication (written/verbal).
  • Work in fast-paced, dynamic environments, potentially requiring overtime, shifts, or travel.
  • Dexterity, ability to lift, and work in PPE (respirators, etc.) as needed.
