Responsibilities
- Plan and execute engaging training sessions that focus on fundamental hockey skills, tactics, and game strategies tailored to various age groups and skill levels
- Lead team practices, ensuring proper technique development, safety protocols, and positive reinforcement to encourage player growth
- Organize and oversee competitive games, ensuring fair play and adherence to league rules
- Foster a fun, inclusive atmosphere that promotes teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship among all participants
- Monitor player behavior on and off the ice, applying effective behavior management techniques to maintain discipline and focus
- Collaborate with parents or guardians to communicate progress and address concerns in a professional manner
- Ensure all equipment is maintained, properly fitted, and used safely during practices and games
- Create off ice development program to better develop the team to reach team goals. (video, chalk talks, presentations, etc)
- Stay current with coaching certifications and sports safety standards to continually improve coaching practices
Experience
- Prior experience coaching hockey or other team sports is highly desirable
- Experience working with children or students in a childcare or educational setting (desired but not needed)
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques to foster positive team dynamics
- Willingness to learn and grow with an organization that wants to get better every season.
