What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Technician – Precision Manufacturing position at Revolute Machine?
Production Technician – Precision Manufacturing (Entry-Level, Growth-Oriented)
Revolute Machine | Coal Valley, IL
Revolute Machine is a small, automation-focused precision manufacturing company producing high-quality CNC-machined components, primarily for aerospace applications. We are looking to add an early-career team member who is excited to learn, grow, and take on a wide variety of responsibilities in a modern manufacturing environment.
This role is ideal for someone at the beginning of their career or interested in changing fields, who is curious, mechanically inclined, and eager to build real-world skills. Prior manufacturing experience is not required; a strong desire to learn and solve problems is essential.
About the Role
As a Production Technician at Revolute Machine, you will work closely with a small team and be exposed to many aspects of our operation. In a typical week, you may be tending CNC machines, measuring parts, helping troubleshoot issues, performing basic maintenance, and learning how automated systems work.
This is not a narrow or repetitive role. We are intentionally looking for someone who enjoys variety, learning new skills, and gradually taking on more responsibility.
What You'll Learn and Do
As you grow in the role, you'll have opportunities to learn and contribute in increasingly advanced ways. Depending on your interests and progress, responsibilities may include:
- Operating and monitoring CNC machining equipment
- Measuring and inspecting parts using standard metrology tools
- Assisting with machine setup, fixturing, and process improvements
- Supporting and troubleshooting automated machining systems
- Performing basic machine and shop maintenance
- Learning CNC CAM programming for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis machining
- Learning CMM programming and advanced inspection techniques
- Assisting with the implementation and improvement of new automation systems
This role is intentionally designed to expand over time as your skills and confidence develop.
What We're Looking For
We are less concerned with what you already know and more interested in how you approach learning and challenges.
An ideal candidate:
- Is naturally curious and enjoys understanding how things work
- Is excited to learn new skills and take on different responsibilities
- Is comfortable asking questions and learning from mistakes
- Takes pride in doing quality work and following processes
- Has a strong work ethic and sense of responsibility
- Is interested in modern manufacturing, CNC machining, and automation
Growth & Development
We view this role as a starting point, not a dead end. Our goal is to help the right person build a broad and valuable skill set in modern manufacturing. Over time, this role can grow to include advanced CNC programming, inspection programming, automation development, and greater ownership of processes and systems.
Who This Role Is Not For
This role is likely not a good fit if you:
- Prefer doing the same task every day with little variation
- Are looking for a narrowly defined role with limited responsibility
- Are not interested in learning new technical skills
- Are uncomfortable with automation or technology-driven environments
- Prefer constant supervision or rigid structure
We want this to be a great fit—for both you and our team.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical coursework a plus)
- Mechanical or technical curiosity (hands-on experience is helpful but not required)
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and take on responsibility
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
