What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Interior Designer position at Revived Interiors?
REVIVED INTERIORS
Luxury Design Build
NOW HIRING · ON-SITE, IOWA
Senior Designer
Design Team Lead
Revived Interiors is a luxury design-build firm creating homes defined by warmth, restraint, and impeccable detail. We are looking for a senior designer with the talent to shape exceptional interiors — and the leadership to build and mentor the design team that will deliver them. This is a founding leadership seat: you will set the design standard, own the client experience from concept through installation, and grow a studio that becomes known for its craft.
The Role
This is both a maker’s role and a leader’s role. You will personally lead our most important projects while building the systems, standards, and talent that let the studio scale without losing its point of view. You should be equally comfortable in a client’s home presenting a scheme, in front of a set of elevations refining a cabinetry run, and across the table coaching a junior designer.
What You’ll Own
● Design leadership. Set and protect the Revived Interiors aesthetic across every project, ensuring a consistent standard of taste, detail, and execution.
● Build the team. Recruit, hire, mentor, and lead a growing design team — establishing the workflow, review rhythm, and culture of the studio.
● End-to-end projects. Guide luxury residential projects from initial concept and space planning through selections, documentation, procurement, and final installation.
● Client relationships. Serve as the trusted design lead for discerning clients — translating their aspirations into a considered, buildable vision and presenting with confidence.
● Cabinetry millwork. Direct the design and specification of custom cabinetry and architectural millwork — the heart of our work — with authority over layout, proportion, and detailing.
● Cross-team partnership. Work hand-in-hand with builders, trades, and project managers so that what is drawn is what gets built, on schedule and to standard.
Technical Mastery We’re Looking For
This role demands genuine senior-level command of the craft. You will be the technical authority the rest of the team relies on.
● Cabinetry expertise. Deep, senior-level understanding of cabinet construction, styles, storage strategy, and how a kitchen or built-in truly comes together — not just how it looks.
● Dimensions proportion. Fluency with dimensions, clearances, and ergonomics — an instinct for the measurements that make a space feel right and function flawlessly.
● The selection universe. Broad, current knowledge of the full selection universe: cabinetry lines, finishes, hardware, countertops, plumbing, lighting, tile, appliances, and the vendor relationships behind them.
● Chief Architect. Advanced, hands-on proficiency in Chief Architect — producing accurate plans, elevations, and renderings you can put in front of a client and hand to a builder.
● Documentation. The discipline to produce clean, complete, buildable drawing sets and specifications that eliminate ambiguity in the field.
Your Aesthetic
We live in luxury transitional design — the balance of classic and contemporary, warm and clean, timeless and current. Natural materials, quiet palettes, refined detail, and rooms that feel collected rather than decorated. The right person has a portfolio that reflects this sensibility and the taste to elevate it further.
Who You Are
● Seasoned. Substantial experience in high-end residential interior design and/or design-build, with a portfolio of completed luxury projects.
● A leader. A track record of mentoring designers or leading projects and people — or the clear readiness and appetite to step into it.
● Detail-obsessed. You sweat the reveal, the alignment, the hardware, the transition. Nothing ships that isn’t right.
● A communicator. You present with poise, write clearly, and keep clients and trades aligned and confident throughout a project.
● An owner. You take responsibility for outcomes, move projects forward, and raise the standard of everyone around you.
What We Offer
● Salary commensurate with experience. Compensation is tailored to the strength of your background and portfolio — we hire the right person and pay accordingly.
● A founding leadership role. The rare chance to build a design team from the ground up and define the studio’s standard.
● Exceptional projects. A steady pipeline of luxury design-build work with clients and budgets that let great design happen.
● Craft-first culture. A firm where quality, detail, and beautiful outcomes are the point — not a compromise.
● On-site, Iowa. A collaborative, in-studio role at the center of the work, our team, and our clients.
