Role Description
The Plant Controller provides financial leadership and oversight of all plant-level accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts receivable/payable, payroll coordination, cost accounting, and fixed asset management. This role ensures compliance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls while serving as a key liaison for audits. The Plant Controller leads cost accounting activities such as job costing, variance analysis, and margin reporting, partnering with plant operations to monitor KPIs, improve efficiency, and reduce waste. They manage month-end and year-end closings, prepare accurate financial statements and forecasts, and maintain performance dashboards. Additionally, the position leads budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling to support strategic planning, serving as a financial business partner to the Plant General Manager and site leadership team while mentoring accounting staff.
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with advanced credentials such as an MBA, CPA, or CMA preferred. A minimum of 5–7 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including at least 3 years in a manufacturing or plant environment, is required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong expertise in cost accounting, standard costing systems, and manufacturing KPIs, along with advanced Excel proficiency and ERP experience. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to influence cross-functional decisions. The position demands a high degree of integrity, accountability, and results orientation.
