Production Technician - II

4, 10-hour shifts MONDAY-THURSDAY (OFF FRIDAY-SUNDAY)

1st Shift 5:00 AM-3:30 PM

Key Responsibilities:

*Can Opener Operator*

• Arrive on time and maintain consistent attendance, this role directly impacts production start times.
• Load cans onto the can opener conveyor at a steady, efficient pace.
• Inspect each can for dents, rust, mold, or other visible damage prior to loading.
• Reject and set aside cans with significant defects for further inspection or disposal.
• Manually open mildly dented cans, as directed, using a manual can opener.
• Communicate with cook room staff or team leads to confirm the required number of cans per batch.
• Operate a walk-behind pallet jack (after training) to move pallets of cans from storage to the work area.
• Remove empty or crushed cans and dispose of them in the can compactor for recycling.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment throughout the shift.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and consistently wear required PPE- smocks, beard nets, hair nets, hearing protection, cut-resistant gloves, safety boots.
• Rotate duties with other technicians during breaks and lunches to ensure uninterrupted operations.
• Report equipment malfunctions or unsafe conditions immediately to a supervisor or team lead.
• Required use of PPE, including hair nets, beard nets, smocks, gloves, safety boots, safety glasses (when required), hearing protection.
• Perform additional duties as assigned to support production goals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred, but not required
• Ability to lift and move 35–50 lbs repeatedly and safely
• Comfortable working with food products, metal cans, and automated equipment
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely
• Reliable, team-focused, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment
• Prior experience in food manufacturing or equipment operation is a plus (training provided)
• Willingness to learn pallet jack operation

Work Environment

• Food production setting involving canned goods, conveyors, openers (automatic/manual), pallet jacks, packaging lines, forklifts, kettles, and a can compactor
• Frequent standing, lifting, bending, and reaching required
• Regular exposure to tomato juice, food residue, and recycled metals
• Variable temperatures, moderate noise, and slippery floor conditions
• Collaborative and safety-conscious team environment focused on cleanliness and production efficiency
