What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Visual Art Teacher position at Revere High School?
Revere High School is seeking a Visual Art Teacher to teach art, such as painting, sketching, designing, and sculpturing; with experience in ceramics and/or digital art/animation. Preferred candidates will hold Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education licensure in Visual Art 5-12 and will possess a strong content background, solid classroom management skills, and superior organizational skills.
Job Duty Highlights:
- Prepare lesson plans and establish course goals.
- Provide individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students through visual arts.
- Plan, develop and implement art and art history curriculum to meet learning goals.
- Maintain inventory of art materials.
- Prepare and arrange art materials and art equipment in the classroom for students to use.
- Give drawing, painting and ceramics demonstrations to students to teach them art techniques.
- Instruct students in working in different drawing, painting, and sculpting techniques.
- Discuss various artistic approaches and traditions and encourage students to express themselves artistically.
- Provide instruction in the use of pencils, pens, charcoal, brushes, watercolors, acrylic colors, oil colors and other art materials.
- Assign art projects to students, grade the finished art projects, conduct art exams and maintain records of the students' progress.
- Organize art exhibitions to display the artworks of students and help them develop their art portfolios.
- Support the school administration in developing art programs, attend faculty meetings and participate in parent-teacher communications.
Salary : $60,627 - $125,792
