🚀 Data Engineer (Contract-to-Hire) | Microsoft Fabric Focus
We are seeking a Data Engineer to join a growing IT team focused on building modern, scalable data platforms within a Microsoft ecosystem. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity for someone passionate about data, innovation, and emerging technologies—especially Microsoft Fabric.
🔍 What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and maintain modern data platforms (data lakes, warehouses, lakehouses)
- Develop and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL, Python, and Spark
- Integrate data from multiple sources including SQL Server, Azure SQL, APIs, and flat files
- Create and maintain dimensional data models to support analytics and reporting
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across ERP, CRM, WMS, and custom applications
- Enable advanced analytics and AI/ML through scalable data solutions
- Establish and enforce data standards, naming conventions, and governance practices
- Implement data security (access control, encryption, auditing)
- Participate in on-call support rotation for production systems
- Stay current on industry trends and introduce innovative solutions
🧠What We’re Looking For
- 3-5 years of experience in data engineering or related field
- Strong experience with:
- Python & SQL
- Azure Data Factory
- Azure Synapse Analytics
- Spark / PySpark
- Databricks
- Experience working within the Microsoft ecosystem
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Dataflows) preferred but not a must - Opportunity to work with and help shape the adoption of Microsoft Fabric as part of a modern, evolving data platform.
- Experience integrating with systems like Dynamics 365, CRM, WMS, or similar
- Strong understanding of data modeling (Kimball methodology preferred)
- Passion for learning, innovation, and emerging technologies
- Ability to collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders
