About Revby
Revby is a mission-driven small business consulting and technical assistance provider, dedicated to supporting community-based small businesses. Our projects range from business planning and marketing strategy to financial analysis and technology enablement. A majority of our small business consulting work is conducted through contracts with municipalities and economic development organizations to deliver technical assistance and consulting services for their local businesses. We specialize in helping minority-, women-, immigrant-, and LGBTQ-owned businesses stabilize, grow, and thrive. Our work spans across the U.S., including successful collaborations with the City of Boston’s Office of Economic Opportunity and Inclusion, City of Tacoma Office of Community and Economic Development, Arlington Economic Development, and Invest Atlanta.
The Role:
We are seeking an Economic Development Sales & Business Development Manager to drive sales growth with economic development organizations (EDO) and entrepreneurial support organizations (ESO). Most of these opportunities are with government or quasi-government agencies. Revby's sales work involves a high volume of government Request for Proposal (RFP) response writing and lead generation at economic development conferences. We are looking for someone who is in a strong position to assess our current RFP response strategy and improve upon our proposal writing. There are also opportunities to redefine our formal sales process for our growing business to secure contracts that help us meet our ambitious sales revenue goals. This role will report to the Founder and CEO of the company.
A good-fit candidate will be an experienced business developer who is familiar with RFP processes, has excellent writing skills, is confident in public speaking, capable of managing the full sales cycle—from lead generation to closing deals, and experience in securing contract values in the hundreds of thousands. Just as important, our ideal candidate will also be passionate about Revby’s mission and excited to contribute to the company’s growth as a key team member.
The kinds of problems you’ll help us solve:
- How do we build relationships early with government partners, helping shape their RFPs earlier in the process?
- How do we optimize our sales strategy to generate and expand opportunities with our public-sector clients?
- How do we increase our proposal win rates and improve our RFP process to ensure we’re meeting the needs of future clients?
- How do we increase our credibility and reach within the economic development, entrepreneurship, and small business development industries?
How you’ll start to solve these problems:
- RFP Identification & Response: Research, identify, and qualify RFP opportunities for small business technical assistance programs. Lead proposal development in collaboration with the Founder and consulting team.
- Sales & Business Development: Build and manage a pipeline of prospective clients, nurture relationships, and close contracts. Develop strategies to target municipalities, economic development organizations, and other government entities.
- Networking & Representation: Represent Revby at industry conferences, meetings, and events. Lead presentations, facilitate discussions, and showcase Revby’s expertise to prospective clients.
- Sales Pipeline Management: Oversee the sales cycle using CRM tools, track progress, and report on outcomes. Develop strategies to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
- Marketing Collaboration: Partner with the marketing team members to align campaigns and strategies that support B2G sales efforts.
- Program Development: Adapt existing programs or co-create new ones to align with RFP requirements and client needs.
You’ll help us solve these problems if you:
- Have at least 5 years of experience in B2G or B2B sales, or business development with consistent success in meeting or exceeding quotas.
- Have proven experience with RFP or grant proposal writing.
- Are a confident and polished speaker with experience leading meetings, facilitating discussions, and representing an organization to diverse audiences.
- Are skilled at progressing opportunities, building relationships, and closing deals.
- Are passionate about supporting small businesses, especially those in underserved communities.
- Are comfortable with CRM platforms and other tools to manage leads and optimize sales efforts.
- Excel in a team environment and willing to travel up to 20% nationwide and are comfortable with occasional extended hours to meet high-priority deadlines.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment, thinking creatively to address challenges and meet client needs.
What we offer:
- Base salary with a sales performance-based bonus. Base starts at $70,000 per year commensurate with industry and professional experience. Bonus potential is approximately 50% of base for a total possible compensation of $105,000
- Benefits package that includes a healthcare expense reimbursement plan (QSEHRA), a 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, PTO and paid holidays (including Juneteenth), and a commuter benefit.
- Career development opportunities, including professional training and conference attendance.
- A collaborative and mission-driven environment where your contributions directly impact the growth of the company and the clients we serve.
Why you’ll love working with us:
- We make a meaningful difference every day by helping small businesses stabilize, grow, and thrive.
- We work alongside passionate and skilled professionals every day in a growing company.
- We contribute to impactful programs with government clients like the City of Boston, City of Tacoma, County of Arlington (Virginia), and the State of New Mexico.
