Role Description The Mortgage Loan Processor is a full-time remote role responsible for managing residential loan files from initial application through closing. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing loan applications and documentation for accuracy, verifying income, assets, credit, and employment, and ensuring all conditions are met for underwriting approval. The role involves coordinating with loan officers, underwriters, and borrowers to gather required documents, resolve issues, and maintain clear communication on loan status. The Mortgage Loan Processor will also track deadlines, maintain compliance with lending guidelines and regulations, and update internal systems to ensure timely and accurate loan processing. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple files, and a commitment to delivering a smooth, efficient borrower experience in a remote work environment.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of the mortgage industry, including common loan products and lending practices.
- Hands-on experience with mortgage lending and loan processing, including handling files from application through closing.
- Familiarity with underwriting guidelines and requirements, and the ability to prepare loans for underwriting review.
- Experience working with residential loans, including VA, FHA, conventional, and other mortgage products.
- Proficiency with loan origination systems (LOS) and related mortgage software tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain requirements to borrowers and internal partners.
- Customer-focused mindset and ability to work effectively with Military Members and diverse client populations.
- Prior experience as a mortgage loan processor, loan officer assistant, or similar role in mortgage operations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or certification in mortgage lending or finance is a plus.
