Depending on level, this role may include a blend of hands-on technical review, project delivery, client relationship management, mentoring, proposal support, and leadership of increasingly complex land development assignments.

Responsibilities / Day-to-Day

  • Lead land development projects, including commercial, industrial, residential, mixed-use, municipal, and institutional site development assignments.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, deliverables, and client expectations from planning through final approvals.
  • Coordinate civil site design efforts, including grading, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, utility layout, roadway access, and permitting support.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, surveyors, environmental professionals, subconsultants, and review agencies to move projects forward.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, plans, specifications, permit applications, cost opinions, and project documentation.
  • Serve as a client-facing representative of RETTEW by building strong relationships, communicating clearly, and supporting long-term business opportunities.
  • Mentor junior staff, support quality control, and contribute to a team environment focused on accountability, responsiveness, and technical excellence.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure within an agreed-upon timeframe, based on level.
  • Progressive land development, civil site design, or related project delivery experience.
  • Experience with site layout, grading, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, utility coordination, and permitting.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate with clients and project teams, and keep work moving against deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal land development requirements.

Preferred

  • Experience managing land development projects in Pennsylvania or the greater Pittsburgh region.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D, Microsoft Office, and project management tools.
  • Experience preparing proposals, scopes, budgets, schedules, and client presentations.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and designers or lead technical project teams.
  • Experience supporting business development, client account growth, or municipal and private-sector relationships.

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits, along with paid time off, holidays, and retirement savings options.
  • Hybrid work flexibility, meaningful project work, and opportunities to grow your career within a collaborative, employee-owned firm.
  • A culture built on ownership, relationships, technical excellence, and doing work that makes a visible impact in the communities we serve.
