RETS Associates has been retained by a leading commercial real estate development firm to recruit a Senior Vice President of Leasing to lead leasing across an active pipeline of large-format, ground-up retail developments throughout the Southeast and Midwest.
This is a senior, hands-on role for an experienced retail leasing professional with deep relationships across national and regional retailers and a proven ability to originate demand, secure anchor commitments and drive projects from pre-leasing through opening.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead pre-leasing across new ground-up retail developments, with primary responsibility for anchor and junior-anchor commitments
- Develop merchandising strategies and tenant mixes across anchors, junior anchors, outparcels and shop space
- Establish rents and leasing assumptions utilizing market intelligence, comparable transactions and retailer demand
- Maintain and expand relationships with national and regional retailers, brokers and key industry contacts
- Lead LOI and lease negotiations through execution
- Partner closely with development, construction and investment teams to achieve project-level leasing and capitalization objectives
- Represent the platform at ICSC and other industry events
Ideal Background
- 10 years of retail leasing experience, ideally with an owner/developer
- Significant experience with ground-up, anchor-driven shopping center development
- Demonstrated track record of executing anchor and junior-anchor transactions
- Established retailer and brokerage relationships across the Southeast and/or Midwest
- Strong understanding of retail lease economics, development underwriting and project-level decision making
- Entrepreneurial, relationship-driven and comfortable generating demand for projects before construction
Location
Nashville, TN โ full-time, in-office with regular travel to project markets and industry events.
