Asset Protection Specialist

Position Overview

We’re looking for an Asset Protection Specialist who understands both retail security and gaming culture. In this role, you’ll help protect high-value retro games, consoles, collectibles, and store assets while creating a welcoming experience for customers and staff. You’ll monitor store activity, prevent loss, support inventory accuracy, and assist with investigations related to theft, fraud, or policy violations.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor sales floor activity and identify suspicious behavior discreetly and professionally
• Protect high-value inventory including rare cartridges, sealed games, consoles, accessories, and collectibles
• Conduct bag checks, receipt verification, and loss-prevention procedures in accordance with company policy
• Assist with opening and closing security protocols
• Review CCTV footage and document incidents accurately
• Investigate inventory discrepancies, fraudulent returns, and internal theft concerns
• Work closely with store leadership to improve shrink reduction strategies
• Support inventory counts, audits, and stockroom organization
• Maintain a safe environment for customers and employees
• De-escalate conflicts professionally and contact law enforcement when necessary
• Stay informed about common scams involving retro gaming merchandise and collectibles

Qualifications Required

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong observation and communication skills
• Ability to remain professional in stressful situations
• Basic computer and report-writing skills
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
• Availability for evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts

Preferred

• Experience working in collectible retail, electronics, or gaming stores
• Knowledge of retro gaming hardware and software values
• Familiarity with POS systems and inventory management
• CPR/First Aid certification
• Experience with surveillance systems and incident reporting

Work Environment
