Sheet Metal Technician

Retro Custom Metals is hiring a Sheet Metal Technician to join our in-house fabrication team. This role is focused on precision cutting, bending, and forming metal for roofing and custom projects.

You will work primarily inside the shop, operating equipment such as a brake, shear, and CNC machinery to produce high-quality metal components including roof trim packages, chimney hoods, and custom-fabricated pieces.

Occasionally, this role will assist with delivering materials to job sites as needed, supporting field crews when required.

This is a skilled, hands-on position for someone who takes pride in accuracy, craftsmanship, and efficiency.

Position Details

• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
• Type: Full-time
• Work Environment: Primarily indoor fabrication shop (with occasional local deliveries)

Key Responsibilities

• Operate sheet metal brake, shear, and CNC machinery
• Cut, bend, and form metal for:
  • Roof trim packages (fascia, drip edge, flashing, etc.)
  • Chimney hoods and caps
  • Custom metal fabrication orders
• Read and interpret measurements, cut lists, and fabrication specs
• Ensure precision, consistency, and quality control on all fabricated parts
• Perform basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting (blade changes, adjustments, minor repairs)
• Maintain equipment and keep workstations clean and organized
• Assist with loading materials and occasional delivery to job sites as needed
• Support team production goals and deadlines

Requirements (Must-Have)

• Experience operating sheet metal fabrication equipment (brake, shear, etc.)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to measure accurately
• Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Mechanically inclined with a solid understanding of tools and equipment
• Reliable and punctual (critical for production flow)
• Ability to work independently and stay productive in a shop environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CNC sheet metal machinery is preferred
• Background in metal roofing fabrication or trim production
• Experience performing machine maintenance or minor repairs
• Familiarity with different metal types (aluminum, steel, etc.)
• Forklift experience or certification
