Housekeeper / Laundry Attendant
The Retreat Healthcare is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Housekeeper / Laundry Attendant to join our team. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our residents and staff. No prior experience is required—we’re happy to train the right person.
*** Full-time team members must be available to work at least one weekend day. Scheduled shifts range from 8–12 hours and fall between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
What You’ll Do:
- Clean and sanitize resident rooms, common areas, and workspaces
- Perform routine housekeeping duties such as dusting, vacuuming, mopping, and trash removal
- Follow infection control and sanitation guidelines
- Wash, dry, fold, and organize laundry (linens, towels, resident clothing)
- Properly handle residents’ personal items with care
- Maintain cleanliness standards in compliance with healthcare regulations

- Willingness to learn and follow procedures
- Previous housekeeping or laundry experience is a plus, but not required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods
- Must be able to lift or carry laundry bags, supplies, and equipment

This position works closely within a community that serves residents living with dementia. Because of this, team members should:
- Approach residents with patience, kindness, and respect at all times
- Be mindful that residents may be sensitive to noise, unfamiliar faces, or changes in routine
- Avoid removing or relocating personal items without proper process, as familiarity is important for residents’ comfort
- Communicate calmly and clearly if interacting with residents
- Maintain a safe, clutter-free environment to prevent falls or confusion
- Be flexible and understanding, as the day-to-day environment can change quickly
