Job Overview
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Floor Care Technician to join our team at Angelus Plaza, a large senior residential community located in Los Angeles, CA. This role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of flooring surfaces throughout the property, including common areas, offices, hallways, and shared spaces, as well as supporting floor care needs within residential units when required. Angelus Plaza is a high-density community with over 1,000 residential units across multiple residential towers, requiring consistent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
The ideal candidate will have experience in floor maintenance techniques such as buffing, waxing, stripping, burnishing, and carpet cleaning. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to safely operate floor care equipment, and the ability to work independently while ensuring floors remain clean, polished, and safe for residents, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Floor Care Maintenance: Maintain all flooring surfaces including tile, vinyl, laminate, carpet, and other materials. Perform sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, buffing, burnishing, waxing, and stripping floors as required to preserve their appearance and longevity.
- Carpet Cleaning: Vacuum carpets regularly and perform spot cleaning, shampooing, and extraction to remove stains and maintain cleanliness in high-traffic areas.
- Cleaning & Sanitizing: Support overall facility cleanliness by performing janitorial tasks in common areas including hallways, offices, restrooms, kitchens, and community spaces as needed.
- Waste Management: Empty trash and recycling containers, dispose of waste properly, and maintain clean and organized waste collection areas.
- Restroom Maintenance: Clean and sanitize restroom floors and fixtures while restocking essential supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paper.
- Window & Glass Cleaning: Clean interior windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces to ensure they remain free of streaks and smudges.
- Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain floor care equipment including buffers, burnishers, floor scrubbers, and carpet extractors while following proper safety procedures.
- Safety & Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines when handling cleaning chemicals and equipment. Maintain awareness of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and ensure cleaning supplies are properly stored. Use proper signage such as wet floor signs to prevent accidents.
- Inventory Management: Monitor floor care equipment and cleaning supplies, reporting low inventory levels and requesting restocking when needed.
- Event Support: Assist with setting up and breaking down furniture or equipment for meetings, activities, or community events when needed.
- Special Projects: Perform periodic deep cleaning, seasonal floor care treatments, or other special cleaning assignments as directed by the supervisor.
- Communication: Maintain clear communication with supervisors and staff members, reporting safety concerns, equipment issues, or areas requiring additional attention.
Qualifications/ Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience in floor care, custodial services, or janitorial work Experience with commercial floor care equipment is highly desirable.
- Skills: Working knowledge of cleaning products, floor care equipment, and floor maintenance techniques such as stripping, waxing, and buffing.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform repetitive tasks, lift up to 25/50 pounds, and stand or walk for extended periods. Must be able to bend, kneel, and reach while performing floor care duties.
- Work Ethic: Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Communication: Basic verbal communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Availability: Flexible schedule with the ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays if required.
Compensation:
Actual base salary considers several factors including but not limited to geography, job-related knowledge, experience, and budget. The start of the salary range is typically associated with the minimum experience required.
The role is considered non-exempt and may be eligible for overtime pay in accordance with federal and state law. The anticipated base pay range for the position is $19.00- $22.00 per hour.
