Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting ophthalmologists in providing high-quality eye care. We’re looking for someone who feels comfortable in a medical office setting, has a good understanding of anatomy and ophthalmology, and enjoys communicating clearly to help create a positive experience for every patient. This position does have the potential to turn into a Full Time position for the right candidate.
We do travel 5 days out of the month to satellite locations in Hazleton and Honesdale.
Responsibilities
- Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures by preparing the necessary instruments and equipment.
- Perform preliminary diagnostic tests, including visual acuity tests, tonometry, and retinal imaging.
- Record patient medical histories and vital signs accurately in the electronic health record system.
- Educate patients on eye care procedures and follow-up instructions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to aseptic techniques.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Support all aspects of practice as assigned.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred but not required; We will train the right candidate.
- Knowledge of anatomy related to the eye and common ophthalmic conditions preferred.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Experience or training in ophthalmology is highly desirable.
- Basic understanding of medical billing and coding practices is a plus.
- Ability to perform aseptic techniques during procedures.
- Experience with electronic health record systems such as Epic is advantageous.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
