Insurance Coordinator – Fort Myers, FL
The Retina Group of Florida is a multi-physician, multi-office, and growing ophthalmology practice specializing in diseases of the retina. We pride ourselves on first-class patient care, a collaborative work environment, and creating opportunities for employee growth.
We are currently seeking a full-time Insurance Coordinator to join our team in Fort Myers, FL. This position plays a critical role at the beginning of the revenue cycle by ensuring patients are seen with active insurance coverage and all required authorizations are in place. The Insurance Coordinator will report directly to the Insurance Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and process insurance authorizations for procedures and treatments
- Verify patient eligibility and coverage details with insurance providers
- Communicate with providers to gather necessary documentation for authorization requests
- Submit and follow up on pending authorization requests with insurance companies
- Maintain accurate records of authorization status and update patient files accordingly
- Collaborate with the billing department to ensure accurate billing and reimbursement for authorized procedures
- Collaborate with the Research Department as needed
- Not a remote job
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of medical insurance policies, procedures, and terminology
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple authorizations simultaneously
- High attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing and processing requests
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with insurance companies and providers
- Proficiency with computer systems and data entry for record keeping and documentation
