We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Property Accountant for our client-focused Property Management team. The Senior Property Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate books for all assigned properties. Responsibilities include monthly close procedures, property reporting, monthly and annual budgeting, lender financials, construction loan requests, and annual reconciliations, among others.
As our property management platform continues to expand, this role is expected to evolve into a Property Controller/Accounting Manager position, ultimately leading the Property Management Accounting & Finance Department. The ideal candidate is someone who is excited to grow into a leadership role while helping build scalable accounting processes for a growing commercial real estate portfolio.
Responsibilities
- Maintain correct and accurate books for all assigned properties
- Complete monthly closing procedures including bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, ADA calculations, distribution calculations, and other ownership-required accounting procedures
- Work in conjunction with Property Managers to ensure monthly property reports are completed accurately and on time
- Produce monthly budget-to-actual comparisons with variance explanations for assigned properties
- Prepare annual operating budgets for assigned properties
- Track and complete all required lender financial reporting
- Assist with preparing construction loan draw request packages
- Complete annual CAM/operating expense recovery reconciliations and ensure tenants are billed accurately with appropriate supporting documentation
- Coordinate with support staff during property transitions to ensure bank accounts, Yardi setup, and online banking access are properly established
- Assist in developing and improving accounting procedures, internal controls, and reporting processes to support the continued growth of the property management platform
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 3–5 years of accounting experience (commercial real estate or property accounting preferred)
- Team player, problem solver, and self-starter
- Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience with Yardi preferred
- Demonstrated leadership potential with a desire to grow into an accounting management role
