Title: Pathologists’ Assistant

Location: Corpus Christi, TX

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (with rotation-based variations)

About The Opportunity

A pathology practice in the Coastal Texas region is seeking a Pathologists’ Assistant to support surgical pathology services across multiple facilities. This role offers exposure to a wide variety of specimen types and provides strong professional growth in a supportive, team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform gross examination, dissection, and preparation of surgical pathology specimens
• Accession specimens and gather appropriate clinical information
• Prepare tissues for histologic processing and special procedures
• Assist with frozen sections as needed across multiple facilities
• Photograph gross specimens and document findings accurately
• Support autopsy-related tasks as required
• Maintain surgical pathology protocols, reports, and related documentation
• Participate in quality initiatives and troubleshooting of complex cases
• Provide training or guidance to staff as needed
• Assist with scheduling to ensure consistent workflow coverage
• Uphold safety, compliance, and quality standards within the laboratory
  
  

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Laboratory Science
• Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists’ Assistant program
  
  

Experience

• New graduates welcomed
• Experience performing grossing, frozen sections, and related tasks preferred
  
  

Requirements

• Ability to pass a visual color discrimination test
• Completion of required continuing education per ASCP or state guidelines
  
  

Schedule Details

• Standard hours: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
• When scheduled on first-shift grossing: 8:00 AM–4:00 PM
• When scheduled on second-shift grossing: 10:00 AM–6:00 PM
• Call coverage is required
• Grossing performed primarily at the Regional Lab
