Responsibilities
- Implement lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher, ensuring continuity of instruction across subjects such as literacy, math, science, and social studies.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively by employing positive behavior management techniques and maintaining a respectful, inclusive environment.
- Adapt instructional methods to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with special education requirements or autism spectrum disorder.
- Use educational technologies and computers to enhance student engagement and learning experiences.
- Communicate regularly with school staff, including teachers and administrators, to report on student progress and classroom activities.
- Follow school policies and mandated reporting laws to ensure student safety and compliance with legal requirements.
- Foster a nurturing environment that promotes childhood development, social-emotional learning, and respect for cultural diversity.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, and curriculum implementation aligned with educational standards.
- Experience working with children from diverse cultural backgrounds in classroom or childcare settings.
- Excellent classroom management skills combined with effective behavior management strategies.
- Ability to adapt instruction based on student needs and learning styles; experience with early childhood education or preschool is highly valued.
- Familiarity with special education practices, literacy education, math instruction, Montessori methods, or preschool experience is a plus.
- Proficiency in using educational technologies and computers to support instruction and student engagement.
- Effective communication skills for parent-teacher interactions and collaboration with colleagues.
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and experience working with individuals with autism or other special needs is desirable.
- Understanding of school policies, mandated reporting laws, and best practices in private school settings.
