Position Description
Resurrection Lutheran Church (RLC), a congregation of Lutheran Christians (ELCA) in St. Joseph, MN, requires a Building Custodian. This position has the responsibility, in partnership with the Property Committee, to keep the building and grounds clean and well maintained.
Supervisor
This position will report directly to the Pastor and receive feedback and support from the Property Committee.

Demonstrates understanding and full support of the mission, values, and beliefs of Resurrection Lutheran Church.
Specifications and Qualifications
· Understanding of precautions and proper uses for common cleaning agents and equipment
· Ability to lift 50 pounds
· Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
· Handywork/repair skills or maintenance experience preferred
· Excellent communication skills
- Must pass background check
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
Principle Responsibilities
· Keep all public areas of the church clean and sanitary according to the provided list of cleaning duties
· Restore the church to a clean and sanitary condition following funerals or other special ministry events
· Assist with setup needs for scheduled events (Fare-for-All, fellowship hall rentals, etc.)
· Set out trash and recycle cans each week prior to pickup
· Perform light maintenance tasks as needed, including changing of light bulbs in accessible areas, unplugging clogged drains, touch-up painting, and other tasks as directed
· Sweep/Shovel front sidewalks as needed
· Other duties as assigned (assist with moving seasonal items to basement, etc.)
Administrative Responsibilities
· Communicate supply needs to the Office Manager and/or order supplies as needed
· Complete errands or pick up custodial supplies for the church as requested (occasionally)
· Report to the Pastor and/or Property Committee those items in need of repair, especially those items which are safety concerns
· In collaboration with the Property Committee, schedule carpet cleanings as needed
· Monitor alarms and salt in the softener
· Attend staff meetings as scheduled
Commitment
· Part Time: 10-12 hours/week, non-benefit eligible
· Pay range: $18-$21 per hour depending on qualifications
· Flexible hours; however, may require occasional hours on weekends if events are planned onsite
This position is not benefit eligible
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
