What are the responsibilities and job description for the Foster Care Caseworker position at Restore Therapeutic Foster Care?
Restore Therapeutic Foster Care is a community-rooted agency dedicated to simplifying the foster care journey and surrounding families with the support they need to help children heal. Our work is relationship-driven, trauma-informed, and guided by leaders with lived experience in foster care.
We are seeking a Full-Time Foster Care Caseworker who is passionate about child welfare, confident in their clinical skills, and committed to partnering with foster parents and children through every step of their foster care journey.
Responsibilities:
- Build supportive, trusting relationships with foster families, children, and biological families.
- Conduct monthly home visits, assessments, and safety checks in accordance with Virginia licensing standards.
- Provide coaching and guidance to foster parents on trauma-informed care, behavior management, and child development needs.
- Develop and implement individualized service and treatment plans in partnership with foster families, biological families, and community providers.
- Monitor and document each child’s progress, ensuring needs are addressed quickly and appropriately.
- Maintain accurate, timely case records and reports (Extended Reach experience preferred).
- Provide crisis support and participate in on-call rotation.
- Participate in agency team meetings, case conferences, and required trainings.
- Work collaboratively with DSS workers, service providers, and other community partners.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience working in the foster care system or with children and families in a similar capacity.
- Experience working with children whom have experienced trauma.
- Knowledge of child welfare laws, regulations, and best practices in foster care.
- Strong understanding of the complex needs and dynamics of both foster and biological families.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish rapport and build relationships with diverse individuals and families.
- Ability to assess and manage crisis situations effectively and provide appropriate support.
- Flexibility in scheduling, including the ability to participate in on-call responsibilities.
- Proficient computer skills and experience with case management software. Extended Reach is preferred.
