PEER SPECIALIST/ACTIVITIES ASSISTANT
Position Overview:
Restoration Society, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and motivated Peer Specialist to provide outreach and peer support to individuals with mental health conditions in a residential setting. This role focuses on promoting recovery, empowerment, and wellness through peer engagement and supportive activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide peer support and outreach to individuals
- Assist in developing self-advocacy skills and peer support networks
- Facilitate individual and group meetings that promote wellness, empowerment, and development of daily living skills within a residential setting
- Serve as a role model and advocate, supporting residents in areas related to social determinants of health, personal growth, and engagement in daily activities
- Support recreational and therapeutic activities within the residence
Required Qualifications:
- Must identify as a peer (current or former recipient of mental health services)
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Willing and able to assist individuals with mobility issues in and out of agency vehicles
- Flexible schedule availability, including weekends as needed
- Clean NYS driver’s license and reliable vehicle
- Must pass OMH background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of experience providing mental health peer services
- NYS Academy of Peer Specialist Certification preferred; if not currently certified, must obtain certification within the first year of employment (currently at no cost to the employee)
