What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager position at Restoration 1 of Independence?
Job Overview
Restoration 1 of Independence is hiring an experienced Operations Manager to oversee daily restoration and reconstruction operations from job intake through completion and collection.
This is not a desk-only management position. We need someone who understands reconstruction, can walk a job, evaluate the scope, manage crews and subcontractors, coordinate materials and schedules, communicate with homeowners and adjusters, and close every operational loop without constant owner involvement.
The right person is organized, financially aware, direct, accountable, and comfortable managing multiple active projects at once.
Responsibilities
- Oversee water, fire, mold, storm, and reconstruction projects from start to finish
- Inspect every active reconstruction job regularly and verify quality, schedule, scope, and customer satisfaction
- Build and maintain production schedules for crews, subcontractors, materials, inspections, and job completion
- Understand reconstruction scopes involving drywall, paint, flooring, cabinetry, trim, framing, roofing, plumbing, electrical, and related trades
- Review estimates, supplements, change orders, job costs, and margins
- Coordinate communication with homeowners, adjusters, vendors, subcontractors, and internal staff
- Ensure estimates, documentation, invoices, and supplements are submitted promptly
- Track deposits, progress payments, final payments, accounts receivable, and collections
- Maintain clear visibility of every crew, vehicle, job, and next action
- Manage company vehicles, equipment, fuel cards, rentals, dumpsters, tools, and inventory
- Control spending and operate within established budgets and approval limits
- Hold employees and subcontractors accountable for quality, productivity, cleanliness, and timelines
- Maintain accurate job information inside the CRM
- Resolve problems directly and bring the owner completed solutions—not unfinished issues
- Assist with vendor relationships, pricing, and subcontractor development
- Provide a concise daily operations report covering active jobs, crews, sales, collections, problems, and next actions
Required Experience
- Strong hands-on knowledge of residential reconstruction
- Previous experience managing restoration, remodeling, construction, or insurance-repair projects
- Ability to read estimates, scopes, contracts, change orders, and job-cost reports
- Experience coordinating multiple trades and active jobs
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing and quality control
- Comfortable communicating with adjusters, homeowners, employees, and vendors
- Able to manage budgets, labor costs, material costs, and project profitability
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Strong computer, email, CRM, and documentation skills
Experience with Xactimate, restoration estimating, insurance supplements, mitigation, or property claims is strongly preferred.
