Young Actors Theatre: Costumes, Choreography and Production Assistant Positions
Reston Community Center, Reston, VA
Pay Range: Various, commensurate with experience
Dates: July 6-August 7, 2026
The Young Actors Theatre (YAT) program is a five-week program, July 6 -August 7, 2026, that trains young actors in the disciplines of voice, dance and acting with a focus of exposing participants to the process of theatrical productions. There will be a maximum of 75 participants that are split into three groups. The 7-11 age group is limited to 50 participants who will be divided into two groups. The 12-15 age group is limited to 25 participants. Each group will perform a final performance on one of the following dates August 5, 6, and 7, 2026.
We are currently hiring for multiple production and artistic roles.
Costume Designer/Director: leads a team of three costume assistants to pull, buy and build costumes for three productions. The successful candidate will have professional experience in costumes and leading a team.
Choreographer: plans and teaches choreography appropriate to a range of dance abilities for two productions. The successful candidate will have professional experience working with youth and dance.
Costume Assistant: assists in costuming three productions, including basic sewing, and serves as wardrobe crew for productions. The successful candidate will have experience in sewing and a strong interest in theatre.
Production Assistants: assists with props, stage management, and supervision of participants. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in theatre and experience working with young people.
All roles require the ability to collaborate, multi-task, and create a nurturing, positive environment for youth in theatre. Must be available for the full contract.
