Job Overview
As a Personal Care Aide, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals in need of assistance. This position involves providing compassionate care and support to clients in various settings, including home health, assisted living facilities, and nursing homes. You will be responsible for assisting with daily living activities, ensuring safety, and promoting independence among clients.
Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Provide patient care and support to individuals with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and autism.
- Monitor vital signs and report any changes in the client's condition to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning and cooking.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
- Implement care plans as directed by healthcare professionals and assist with medication administration when necessary.
- Engage clients in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
- Provide direct support while using equipment such as Hoyer lifts for mobility assistance.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of client information.
Experience
Candidates should possess relevant experience that may include:
- Previous work in home health care, hospice care, or long-term care settings.
- Experience in caregiving roles within group homes or assisted living environments.
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR is preferred.
- Experience working with individuals who have disabilities or special needs.
