Your Job
The Shipping Clerk is responsible for supporting daily shipping operations in an automotive manufacturing environment by preparing accurate shipment documentation, coordinating outbound freight, maintaining shipping records, and communicating with internal teams and carriers to ensure customer requirements are met. What you Will do in Your Role
- Prepare, verify, and maintain accurate shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing slips, shipping labels, manifests, and customer-required paperwork.
- Review customer orders, shipping schedules, ASN requirements, and carrier instructions to support timely and accurate outbound shipments.
- Enter, update, and verify shipment information in company systems, customer portals, ERP, or other shipping platforms as required.
- Coordinate with material handlers, production, quality, customer service, and supervision to ensure products are staged, labeled, packaged, and shipped according to customer requirements.
- Communicate with carriers to schedule pickups, confirm shipment details, resolve discrepancies, and support efficient loading activity.
- Verify shipment contents against orders, packing lists, or customer requirements to ensure correct part numbers, quantities, labels, and packaging prior to shipment.
- Maintain organized shipping files, shipment logs, reports, and records in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.
- Identify, investigate, and communicate shipment discrepancies, shortages, damages, labeling concerns, or documentation errors to supervision.
- Support inventory accuracy by completing system transactions, verifying staged material, and assisting with cycle count or reconciliation activities as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping office and dock area in alignment with 5S expectations.
- Follow all safety, quality, environmental, PPE, and company policies and immediately report any hazards, incidents, or concerns to management.
- Demonstrate flexibility by supporting overtime, schedule changes, and other shipping or materials activities based on business needs.
- High school diploma or GED preferred; prior shipping, receiving, logistics, warehouse, or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience in an automotive manufacturing environment, customer portal, ERP system, or warehouse management system preferred.
- Ability to prepare and review shipping documentation with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills, including data entry, email, scanning, printing, and Microsoft Office or similar software.
- Strong communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English and follow written work instructions, customer requirements, and shipping procedures.
- Basic math skills required to verify quantities, weights, pallet counts, and shipment information.
- Forklift or powered industrial truck experience preferred, if required by site operations.
