Job Overview
We are a busy and growing Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine practice seeking a reliable, motivated Medical Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate is organized, patient-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment. In addition, we are seeking a candidate that can float between our clinics, Des Plaines and Rolling Meadows.
Duties
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and documenting chief complaints
- Rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and documenting medical history
- Assisting providers with office visits
- Performing nebulizer treatments, 6 minute walks, spirometry test, etc.. (training provided if needed)
- Administering injections as ordered
- Supporting sleep study coordination and DME processes (CPAP/BiPAP a plus)
- Handling prior authorizations, referrals, and patient phone calls
- Schedule appointments
- Updating EMR and maintaining accurate patient records
- Handle patient check in and check out during clinic, which includes confirming demographic information, providing orders to complete at outpatient facilities and scheduling their follow up appointments
- Provide excellent patient service by addressing questions and ensuring comfort throughout visits
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas in compliance with safety standards
Requirements
- Certified or experienced Medical Assistant
- Pulmonary or sleep medicine experience preferred but not required
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medications
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills with patients, providers, and team
- Basic life support (BLS) certification required or obtainable upon hire
- Strong multitasking skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
