Quality Engineer
Location: Hopkinsville, KY
Reports to: Quality Manager
Position Description:
Applies appropriate engineering and manufacturing technology to improve existing processes in the areas of quality, productivity, and cost reduction. Monitor the Quality System to assure total compliance with the Quality Plan.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a technical resource for manufacturing by providing quality expertise to assist with development of APQP documentation. This includes, but is not limited to, control plans, PFMEAs, flow charts, and inspection plans.
- Support manufacturing in achieving quality and policy deployment goals.
- Actively participate and assist manufacturing engineering to ensure quality requirements are in compliance in daily operations.
- Educate Production Associates and Quality Technicians on formal problem solving tools.
- Use a combination of Quality and Six Sigma tools to ensure quality requirements are in compliance to industry standard, ISO/TS16949:2015, and customer specific requirements.
- Investigate customer concerns, develop containment activities, and coach 8D team in implementation of both process and system countermeasures as applicable. Ensure satisfactory completion of 8D documentation prior to submission to customer.
- Ensure compliance to industry standard, ISO/TS16949:2015, and customer specific requirements.
- Manage action plans for quality improvements.
- Actively supports and manages to our Process Based Leadership, 10 Commitments & 8 People Principle
- Ability to travel up to 25% to support our customers.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in related technical field, 3-5 years’ experience with quality in a manufacturing environment or equivalent are required.
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred.
- Basic knowledge of traditional quality tools such as SPC, capability analysis, MSA, and common gauging practices.
- Advanced problem solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong project management and planning abilities.
- Demonstrated discipline and consistency regarding adherence to established standards, policies, and procedures.
- Good written and oral communication skills to independently prepare and deliver presentations.
- Ability to interface with all levels of the organization.
- PC application skills including Microsoft Office, MiniTab, and MPACT.
- Strong commitment to a team environment.
