The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment such as printing presses, rewinders, motors, pneumatic tools, and production machines and other equipment by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment used in production and related services, maximizing production time and minimizing down time.
- Observe equipment in operation to identify issues, dismantling for access, and to replace defective parts as needed.
- Assist in developing, organizing, and executing preventive maintenance programs.
- Communicate daily with the Operations Manager, supervisors, and production personnel to review equipment performance.
- Perform root cause analysis to increase reliability and overall equipment performance.
- Document all maintenance and repairs in written/electronic records to build equipment history.
- Ensure compliance with cGMP, ISO 9001, OSHA, and other regulatory standards as applicable.
- Order parts and supplies as needed. Request adequate tooling, hardware, and supplies necessary to perform work.
- Assist in defining nature and scope of upcoming projects and the requirements for on-time delivery, ensuring timely execution of assigned tasks.
- Perform regular equipment inspections and schedule maintenance or repairs as needed.
- Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and industry changes.
- Monitor KPIs for maintenance performance, including equipment uptime, preventive maintenance schedule adherence, and response time to maintenance requests.
- Ensure all safety, work rules, regulations and housekeeping standards are followed.
- Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships for effective collaboration.
- Be available for any emergencies and on call for onsite situation response as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, and a minimum of five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least two years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment, printing or packaging experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply safety rules, maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, technical drawings, diagrams, and engineering specifications.
- Ability to write routine reports and communicate effectively with vendors or employees.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume, and apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- In-depth knowledge of Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures and other safety standards.
- Proficient knowledge of cGMP, ISO 9001, OSHA and other relevant standards.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Forklift Certification.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record with periodic checks.
- Demonstrated skills in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining automated equipment.
- Strong interpersonal skills, teamwork, adaptability, and attention to detail in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Frequent standing, walking, and climbing ladders, scaffolding, or stairs.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in indoor/outdoor environments.
- Dexterous hand and finger use with repetitive motions to operate tools and equipment.
- Comfortable bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching (including overhead).
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs, with or without reasonable accommodation.
