Oversee maintenance operations for a ready-mix concrete company operating multiple batch plants and a large fleet of mixer trucks, tractors, trailers, and heavy equipment. This position is responsible for coordinating mechanics, managing preventative maintenance systems, monitoring vehicle diagnostics, and ensuring DOT compliance, equipment reliability, and maximum operational uptime. This is a leadership and systems-management role, not a wrench-turning position.

Primary Responsibilities
- Fleet Maintenance Oversight
- Oversee daily shop operations and mechanical workflow
- Review Camera Telematics and engine fault codes daily
- Identify problem vehicles before breakdowns occur
- Create, assign, and close work orders
- Schedule and manage preventative maintenance programs
- Ensure DOT compliance and inspection readiness
- Manage tire programs, lighting issues, and driver repair requests
- Prioritize repairs based on operational demand
- Coordinate outside vendors and specialty repairs
- Maintain maintenance records and inspection documentation
- Reduce out-of-service violations and roadside failures
Daily Duties
- Review Telematics dashboard each morning
- Flag trucks requiring attention
- Issue mechanical work assignments
- Meet with dispatch regarding fleet availability
- Review fleet and plant operational status daily
- Prioritize maintenance based on production needs
- Meet with dispatch and plant managers regarding equipment availability
- Assign and monitor mechanic workloads
- Track downtime, recurring issues, and repair trends
- Verify completed repairs before equipment returns to service
Ideal Candidate
- Fleet maintenance or heavy equipment management experience
- Ready-mix, aggregate, construction, trucking, or industrial plant experience preferred
- Experience supervising mechanics or maintenance personnel
- Ability to interpret engine diagnostics and telematics data
- Knowledge of pneumatic systems and batching equipment
- Strong organizational and leadership skills
- Comfortable use of computers, maintenance software, and reporting systems
- Understanding of DOT compliance and safety standards
