Job Summary

Under the direction of the CEO, is responsible for The Risk Management Program and related projects. Serves as an internal advisor to leaders, department supervisors and staff on matters of risk management. Improving health outcomes and service, increasing patient safety, and reducing error in healthcare processes.

Responsibilities

· Facilitates the education of staff and the Board of Directors on compliance requirements and all compliance related activities; facilitates specialized training to ensure familiarity with relevant laws, regulation, standards policies, procedures and code of conduct. Establishes and maintains systems for effectively documenting and reporting such educational activity.

· Keeps abreast of current changes that may affect health care systems.

· Works in conjunction with the leadership team in establishing, modifying and maintaining all aspects of ResourceCare’s risk and compliance programs.

· Gathers and analyzes information and reports on incidents and complaints.

· In collaboration with the Clinical Operations Officer and CMO, investigates, reports and coordinates related action plans for adverse events.

· Ability to assume a role of authority as necessary; advocate for new ideas, set an example for coworkers; delegate responsibility and empower staff to make decisions.

· Ensure highest quality of care with minimal risk issues.

· Implements and maintains systems to ensure appropriate responses to compliance, complaints, disclosures and reported problems in a timely manner.

· Responsible for Risk Management Plan Compliance- working with patients and staff to train, identify, and resolve complaints or errors before they develop into a potential liability claim.

· Responsible for the management and processing of liability claims. Report any related claims activity and share claims point of contact with CEO.

· Able to comprehend, communicate and apply state and federal laws and health laws which affect patient care

· Oversees and coordinates risk management activities

· Ensures implementation of policies and operating procedures and updates them accordingly

· Conducts risk assessments

· Reports to the BOD and key management staff on risk management activities

· Completes risk management training annually.

· Responsible for 340B contract compliance and Office of Pharmaceutical Affairs account reporting and maintenance for new pharmacy registrations and annual renewals.

· Responsible for the Continuous Performance Improvement (CPI) program. Polices, Protocols, Processes, calendars, reviews for compliance and general oversite.

· Responsible for the organization's FTCA program. Ensuring all program guidelines are met, annual redeeming application is successfully submitted, and compliance.

· Emergency Preparedness & Management, Policies and Processes, education according to CMS and HRSA guidelines

· Responsible for processing, analysis and reporting of the Patient Satisfaction Survey Report

· Patient/Staff complaints and grievances review and reporting

· Assist Quality Improvement Manager and CMO in development of Policy& Procedures, Provider Protocols, and Standing Orders

· MSDS Oversite

· Sharps injury post -accident reviews, clinical testing and tracking per organizations policy.

· Responsible for Incident Report processing and reviews.

· Responsible for the organizations Medical Inventory ongoing maintenance and annual report.

· Responsible for the organizations Ambulance Transport reviews and reporting.

· Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

· Must be knowledgeable of personal computers to include internet/intranet navigations.

· Strong communication and organizational skills

· Critical thinking, decision making and systematic problem solving skills.

· Ability to remain flexible and open minded. Exercising a high degree of diplomacy and tact.

· Ability to manage confidential records and information.

· Required availability for after -hour situations.

· Specialized knowledge and skills in healthcare administration and risk management.

· B.A. degree in Health Administration or Business, or minimum of 5 years’ experience in healthcare administration; 5 years’ of risk management experience. FQHC preferred. Certificate in Healthcare Risk Management. Advanced degree may be substituted for experience.

Typical Physical Demands

· Finger Dexterity: Using fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up small objects. Normal fine and gross motor control of fingers and hands.

· Talking: Frequently conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, clearly and/or quickly.

· Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information; hear whispered voice at five (5) feet.

· Repetitive Motions: Frequently and regularly using the wrists, hands and fingers.

· Visual: Visual acuity necessary for the proper evaluation of a patient and to prepare or inspect documents or other materials. Ability to accurately view computer monitors.

· Physical: Sitting 20-30% of time and standing, walking 70-80% of time. Lift up to 20-40 lbs; push and pull up to 20-40 lbs. Able to bend at the waist, twist and turn along axial plane.

Pay: From $60,000.00 per year
