The Recreation / Activities Assistant is responsible for planning, setting up, and leading activities, assisting participants with special needs, and maintaining recreational equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Create and handle the logistics for daily, weekly, and monthly events in an effort to engage owners/guests.
- Teach specific classes, activities and events (including: special events, holiday activities, competitions, mixers, and other group activities).
2. Welcome and acknowledge all owners/guests; anticipate and address guests’ service needs; assist individuals with disabilities; thank guests with genuine appreciation.
3. Provide excellent customer service to owners/guests and create an environment of open communication and group participation in planning events and activities.
a. Speak with others using clear and professional language; answer telephones using appropriate etiquette.
4. Coordinate activities programs for all age groups, on a day-to-day basis. Paying close attention to needs and interests and owners/guests, resort requirements and seasonal opportunities.
5. Promote a fun and relaxing atmosphere for owners/guests.
6. Promote the rules and regulations of the recreation facility intended for the safety and welfare of owners/guests.
7. Observe activity in the recreational facility and respond appropriately in accordance with resort operating procedures in the event of an emergency.
8. Be aware of possible situations where owners/guests are not able to safely participate in an activity and inform supervisor/manager.
9. Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; complete safety training and certifications as required.
10. Must be able to tolerate and work in a variety of outdoor temperatures and environment.
11. Supervise all pool activities and all other activity in common areas.
12. May be required: Public speaking (microphone), cash handling, water slide (if applicable), general clerical/administrative duties.
13. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals.
14. Maintain clean work area. Clean and maintain equipment and supplies.
15. Clear understanding of all resort emergency procedures.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Outgoing, friendly personality.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work well with others.
- CPR certified (adults & children).
