We’re looking for a Senior Biomedical Technical Service Engineer (BMET) to join our In‑House Engineering (IHE) team in Lakeland, FL. In this hands-on role, you’ll ensure the safety, precision, and reliability of critical clinical and laboratory equipment used in global trials—directly contributing to patient safety and data integrity worldwide.
What You’ll Do
You’ll be a key technical expert responsible for maintaining and optimizing a wide range of clinical, laboratory, and cold-chain equipment.
Technical Expertise & Support
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across medical, laboratory, and refrigeration equipment
- Interpret technical documentation and provide guidance to internal and external stakeholders
- Support customer inquiries via email, phone, and digital platforms
Service, Repair & Maintenance
- Perform preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance
- Diagnose faults and execute timely repairs to minimize downtime
- Collaborate with manufacturers on advanced troubleshooting
Calibration & Compliance
- Conduct precise calibrations following GxP, ISO 17025, and SOP standards
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready records and certification documentation
- Support regulatory audits and ensure compliance across all activities
Operations & Workflow
- Manage tools, parts, and calibration standards
- Support scheduling and prioritization of engineering work
- Contribute to operational excellence and OTIF performance goals
Collaboration & Leadership
- Work cross-functionally with QA, Operations, Logistics, and Customer Service
- Lead team huddles and mentor junior engineers
- Provide input into equipment upgrades and purchasing decisions
What Makes You a Great Fit
Required Experience
- Hands-on experience with medical devices (e.g., infusion pumps), lab equipment, and refrigeration systems
- Strong understanding of low-temperature and cascade (-80°C) refrigeration systems
- Experience with calibration, diagnostics, and technical repair
- Knowledge of GCP, GMP, ISO standards, and regulated environments
- Strong documentation and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Calibration/validation experience (IQ/OQ/PQ)
- HVAC or refrigeration certification
- Experience in clinical research or GxP environments
- Familiarity with digital calibration systems or ERP tools
