AZURE Architect
Introduction:
The AZURE Architect will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the Azure environment for the Mississippi Department of Information Technology Services (ITS). This position will involve overseeing Azure tenants, designing and implementing cloud solutions, troubleshooting complex issues, and providing mentorship to staff members.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain Azure tenants and Management Groups
- Design and implement Azure solutions for ITS and agencies
- Serve as a senior point of contact for complex Azure-related issues
- Work with vendors to integrate products into the Azure ecosystem
- Provide training and coaching to build internal cloud expertise
- Ensure industry best practices and compliance requirements are met
Requirements:
Required Skills/Experience:
- Deep knowledge of key Azure services (VMs, Azure Storage, Azure SQL/Cosmos DB, VNet, Azure Functions, ARM templates, etc.)
- Experience leading cloud migrations in a complex environment
- Strong network troubleshooting abilities
- Proficiency with infrastructure as code and CI/CD pipelines
- Experience implementing security best practices
- Familiarity with DevOps principles, containerization, and serverless architectures
- Strong troubleshooting abilities across networking, storage, and compute layers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven experience mentoring staff and fostering a collaborative environment
- Effective problem-solving skills and ability to remain focused under pressure
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to lead architectural reviews and design solutions to complex problems
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Microsoft Azure Expert-level certification
- Experience in a government or highly regulated environment
- Knowledge of ITIL, project management methodologies, and enterprise IT governance frameworks
- Familiarity with other public cloud providers and hybrid-cloud environments
- Working knowledge of scripting/programming languages
Salary : $80 - $100
