What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Commissioning Manager QA/QC position at Resolute Project Professionals (RPP)?
Senior Commissioning & Q/QC Manager
Location: Michigan
Project Type: Hyperscale Data Center
Schedule: Multi‑year construction and commissioning program
Position Overview
The Commissioning & Quality Assurance Engineer will support the end‑to‑end commissioning program for a large‑scale hyperscale data center campus. This role ensures that all electrical, mechanical, and controls systems are tested, validated, and transitioned into operational readiness with a high degree of technical rigor.
The position emphasizes commissioning quality assurance, including test execution quality, data integrity, and documentation accuracy. Candidates will work across multiple disciplines to ensure systems meet design intent, regulatory expectations, and operational performance requirements. The ideal candidate brings strength across electrical, mechanical, and controls disciplines. Depth in one area without working knowledge of the others will limit fit, though specific assignments may favor candidates whose strengths match the building scope.
Key Responsibilities
Commissioning Execution
- Support commissioning activities across Levels 1–5 for electrical, mechanical, and controls systems.
- Execute and validate functional testing, system performance checks, and integrated systems testing (IST).
- Assist with energization planning and commissioning of high‑voltage equipment, substations, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
- Verify Protection & Controls (P&C) logic, SCADA integration, and automated load‑shedding sequences.
Commissioning Quality Assurance
- Ensure commissioning activities meet project standards for accuracy, completeness, and technical quality.
- Review and validate commissioning procedures, test scripts, and acceptance criteria.
- Monitor the quality of test execution and ensure results are defensible, traceable, and audit‑ready.
- Support quality reviews during system turnover and operational readiness milestones.
Documentation Control (lightly integrated)
- Maintain organized, accurate commissioning records, including test results, punch lists, and deficiency logs.
- Support documentation workflows to ensure all commissioning data is properly captured and controlled.
- Contribute to the preparation of turnover packages and regulatory‑ready documentation.
Technical Coordination
- Collaborate with construction teams, OEM vendors, utility partners, and operations groups to resolve technical issues.
- Participate in Factory Witness Testing (FWT) and acceptance testing for long‑lead electrical assets.
- Assist in troubleshooting electrical and controls systems during commissioning and turnover.
- Validate system performance against design intent and operational requirements.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all commissioning activities follow site safety protocols and industry best practices.
- Support compliance with electrical testing standards, including NETA, NFPA, and applicable utility requirements.
Required Experience
- Demonstrated commissioning experience across electrical, mechanical, and controls systems. Candidates strong in one discipline with limited exposure to the others may still be considered for assignments where scope aligns.
- Background in commissioning, electrical testing, or mission‑critical facility operations.
- Experience with high‑voltage systems, substations, switchgear, or large‑scale power distribution.
- Familiarity with commissioning quality assurance practices and documentation workflows.
- Ability to interpret electrical one‑lines, P&C schematics, and equipment specifications.
- Strong understanding of IST, load management, and controls integration.
Preferred Experience
- Experience with hyperscale data centers, utility interconnects, or large industrial power systems.
- Exposure to battery energy storage systems (BESS) commissioning.
- Experience working with or alongside NETA‑certified technicians.
- Experience coordinating with utilities during energization and commissioning phases.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate brings a disciplined, detail‑oriented approach to commissioning and quality assurance. They are comfortable working in a high‑pressure, schedule‑driven environment where technical accuracy and documentation integrity directly impact project success. They collaborate effectively across engineering, construction, and operations teams and maintain a high standard of professionalism, technical rigor, and the ability to operate credibly across electrical, mechanical, and controls scopes.
