Caregiver Needed for Young Adult with Severe Autism

Job Summary

I am seeking dedicated, dependable, and experienced caregivers for my 21-year-old son, who has severe autism, is non-verbal, low-functioning, and exhibits challenging behaviors. This is a specialized caregiving role that requires patience, consistency, emotional maturity, and prior experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities.

This position is best suited for someone who is calm under pressure, reliable, physically active, and genuinely committed to providing compassionate care and support.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one care and supervision in the home and community
• Support daily routines and activities
• Assist with behavior management using patience and consistency
• Ensure safety at all times
• Accompany and transport him to appointments and therapy sessions
• Wednesday morning shift includes transportation to therapy in Louisville, KY
• Encourage engagement and positive interactions
• Communicate clearly with family regarding behaviors, routines, and needs

Requirements

• Previous experience caring for individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or behavioral challenges
• Experience with non-verbal or low-functioning individuals preferred
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
• Comfortable driving to Louisville for therapy appointments
• Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a consistent schedule
• Physically capable of managing active behaviors when needed
• Patient, compassionate, and emotionally resilient
• Background check and references required

Schedule

There are three available shifts:

• Monday – Thursday: 3 pm - 8 pm
• Friday 8 am- 4 pm, and Saturday: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Compensation

$25-$27/hour (based on experience)
