The Facilities & Maintenance Supervisor will play a pivotal role in managing the design, planning, construction and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other critical components on the facility. This role will budget, coordinate, and schedule facility expansions and modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costs. This role will also design and develop training procedures and metrics reporting relevant to the facilities department and will propagate a “business partner” approach with the rest of the department stakeholders.
Let’s talk about Responsibilities:
- Oversees and directs facilities personnel and contractors engaged in Material Handling Equipment (MHE) installation & repair, and all building services including security, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC systems, pest control, janitorial and preventive maintenance.
- Management of facilities personnel: including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Manage facility expenses, ensuring that spending is reasonable and in line with budget.
- Establish and manage facilities operations department to provide "customer experience” level of service.
- Drafting and communicating reports to management, peers, and employees. These should include maintenance compliance, safety, productivity, cost, and quality.
- Ensures that building meets health & safety requirements and that facilities comply with local, state, and federal legislation.
- Evaluates future capacity planning by forecasting the facility’s needs and requirements.
- Develops and directs a continuous facilities preventative maintenance program; including establishing metrics, defining scheduling, and managing equipment and spare parts inventory.
- Develop and streamline training tools & procedures for all facilities-related needs.
- Plan and schedules facilities modifications including cost estimates, bid sheets, layouts, and contracts for construction and services.
- Formulates and coordinates program specifications, requirements for proposals and contracts, and associated documents.
- Performs audits and assessments to evaluate performance and support facility planning.
- Inspects contractor work and installation progress to ensure conformance to established specifications is maintained.
- Acts as liaison to public utility, environmental, safety, and energy agencies.
- Change management lead to ensure minimum disruption to core activities.
- Responsible for setup and breakdown of meeting rooms and monitoring facilities, sanitary and break area supplies, and maintain adequate inventory
- Manage space assignments, including office moves & modifications, and ensure that work areas are properly equipped
- Requires being on call 24hrs, 7 days a week, responding to emergency calls
- Support other departments as directed by Operations Manager to provide furnishings and other needs to facilitate special functions

- Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems
- Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and construction drawings
- Excellent prioritization and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering strong relationships with peers and employees
- Demonstrated team building and leadership skills
- Competent in problem solving and decision making
- Strong negotiating skills
Required
- 5 years’ experience in Facilities leadership role
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent level of education and experience
- Mechanical and Electrical Hands-on Experience
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Technical certifications
- Knowledge of automated systems (WMS & WCS)
- Experience in a Distribution facility
Job Environment:
Distribution warehouse environment. Applicant will sit, walk, and occasionally kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift up to 40lbs. The noise level in the warehouse environment is usually moderate to high. Must be flexible to work varying schedules, hours, and overtime as needed.
