Organization Description: RCFC’s mission is to eradicate domestic and sexual violence through programs that directly support survivors and by collaborating with others to build safe communities where all people have dignity and the opportunity to thrive.

RCFC is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Direct service employees are members of the local Service Employees International Union.

RCFC operates a 24/7 crisis line for people who have experienced domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual assault or abuse, rape, sexual trafficking, incest, harassment, or stalking. Our crisis line is always available to provide emotional support, information, and resources. The crisis line is the primary entry point to all of RCFC’s services. All crisis line staff are familiar with the needs of individuals who have experienced sexual assault and domestic violence, and all have expertise regarding resources available in the Franklin County and North Quabbin area.

Job Description:

Our Crisis Line/Direct Service and Medical Advocacy relief staff are scheduled as needed when regularly scheduled staff are unable to cover their shifts. RCFC's crisis line is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

**RCFC is specifically looking for a Crisis Line Relief Advocate who can provide walk-in and crisis line coverage on Tuesdays from 12-4pm at the Greenfield Office. **

Responsibilities:

For office-based shifts:

  • Answer the crisis hotline, providing support, information, and referrals regarding RCFC programs and community services
  • Meet with walk-in clients without appointments; provide support, information, and referrals regarding RCFC programs and community services
  • Provide follow-up information to clients
  • Provide medical advocacy at Greenfield and Athol hospitals for victims of sexual assault.
  • Enter all client data into the RCFC database and communicate with peers regarding client needs
  • Additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor

Daytime Shifts are paid at an hourly rate of $26.00 an hour.

Skills required:

  • Understanding of the dynamics of domestic and sexual assault and the ability to engage with additional training to increase subject matter expertise
  • Ability to engage in safety planning with victims and assess a caller’s level of danger
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Knowledge of Franklin County, the North Quabbin area, and available resources
  • High emotional IQ and comfort with providing support to individuals in crisis
  • Administrative follow-through
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MA DPH-approved sexual assault/domestic violence training, or ability to take 40-hour training (training time is paid.)
  • Associate's degree and/or relevant life and work experience preferred.
  • Strong ability to model and uphold appropriate boundaries in work with clients, coworkers, supervisor, and community.
  • Excellent understanding of issues regarding gender-based violence and oppression.
  • Commitment to ending violence and promoting social change by actively fighting racism, classism, homophobia, ableism, ageism, and all other oppressions.
  • Willingness to learn about and actively use multicultural awareness and understanding in daily work.

Crisis Line Shifts include:

  • Daytime Shifts: Monday-Friday 9am-4pm, at the Greenfield office
  • Weekday Evenings and Overnight Shifts: Monday-Thursday 4pm-9am, Remote
  • Weekend and Holiday Shifts: Friday holiday shifts are from 9am-9am, Remote
  • Saturday, Sunday and Weekend Holiday shifts: are from 9am-9am, Remote

All at-home shifts use an RCFC cell phone to respond to calls. You may indicate if you are interested in specific types of shifts or would like to be considered for all.

or at-home/cell phone shifts (Evening, Overnight, Weekend, and some Holidays):

  • Answer crisis hotline calls. Provide support, information, and referrals regarding RCFC programs and community services
  • Provide follow-up information
  • Complete all required data entry by the end of the shift
  • Provide medical advocacy at Greenfield and Athol hospitals for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence
  • Must be able to stay within 1 hour of Greenfield and Athol hospitals, and must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to answer calls in a quiet space where you will not be interrupted
  • Must be located in an area with clear and consistent cell phone service/reception for the duration of each shift
  • Must have access to own cell phone, laptop, and internet source

FY27 Stipend Rate

Weekday Evening/ Overnight primary -$77.41

Weekday Evening/Overnight backup - $55.17

Holiday/Snow day primary -$138.00

Holiday/Snow day backup - $100.41

Weekend primary -$112.497

Weekend backup -$76.043

Holiday Weekend primary - $178.651

Holiday Weekend backup - $124.388

Active Time

Weekend, Holiday, and Overnight shifts are paid at a flat rate, plus an hourly rate of $26.00 during active work (crisis-hotline calls, responding to medical advocacy visits, completing paperwork, etc.).

Daytime Shifts are from 9:00am- 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday, and are paid at an hourly rate of $26.00 an hour.
