What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) position at Residential Youth Services & Empowerment?
General Description:
Residential Youth Services & Empowerment (RYSE) seeks a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) to assist with the development, initiation, and implementation of clinical treatment plans for youth experiencing houselessness and substance use disorders.
The Substance Abuse Counselor will further the agency’s mission of providing a continuum of support that empowers Hawaii’s street youth to move beyond homelessness. RYSE envisions a community where there is no youth homelessness.
Example of Duties:
- Develop clinically appropriate treatment plans with assigned clients and revise as scheduled.
- Provide individual substance use counseling, group counseling, crisis intervention, discharge planning, and case management services as assigned.
- Provide classes and psycho-educational groups related to addiction, relapse prevention, relationship issues, and other appropriate topics.
- Consult and coordinate care, including linkage with primary care, mental health, and substance use treatment providers.
- Responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation, and modification of various projects
- Ensure proper and timely documentation to meet funding and billing requirements.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and seeks consultation from other disciplines as appropriate.
- Maintain all credentials and certifications, as specified by agency policy and procedures.
Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university in the field of psychology, counseling, sociology, social work, or closely related field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; AND,
- The possession of a current Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) credential in the State of Hawaii.

Salary: $52,000 - $57,000 /year
