What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Attorney position at Residential Warranty Company, LLC?
Residential Warranty Company (RWC) is seeking a Full Time Staff Attorney to join our family-owned company and serve as a trusted, practical legal resource for our leadership team, managers, and employees. This role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys working closely with people, understands that legal advice must support real-world business decisions, and can communicate with clarity, patience, and good judgment.
Since 1981, RWC has been a premier provider of insured home warranties for the building industry and is part of The Parmer Group, a family-owned and operated group of business entities with operations in building supply, residential construction, land development, real estate agency, management, home warranty, insurance, insurance agency, and investment industries.
The right candidate will bring sound legal knowledge, strong professional ethics, and an approachable style that helps others feel comfortable seeking guidance. We value someone who can be firm when needed, but who leads with collaboration, calm communication, and a practical understanding of how a closely held business operates.
What You Will Do
- Provide practical legal advice and counsel to company leadership, managers, and internal departments.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, policies, and other legal documents.
- Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Assist with employment-related matters, internal policies, risk management, and dispute resolution.
- Conduct legal research and provide clear recommendations that balance legal requirements with business needs.
- Coordinate with outside counsel when specialized expertise or litigation support is needed.
What We Are Looking For
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in good standing.
- 3 – 5 years’ experience in corporate law, employment law, contracts, compliance, litigation management, or related areas.
- Strong drafting, research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to explain legal concepts in plain language to non-legal audiences.
- Sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive information professionally.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a business environment.
- A collaborative, service-oriented mindset and the ability to build trust across all levels of the company.
Our Ideal Working Style
Because we are a family-owned company, relationships, trust, and communication matter. We are looking for an attorney who is confident without being rigid, direct without being adversarial, and thoughtful in helping the business reach practical solutions. The ideal candidate is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, listening carefully, asking good questions, and partnering with employees and leaders in a way that feels accessible and constructive. This role may not be the best fit for someone who prefers a highly formal, arms-length, or overly adversarial approach to internal legal work. It is a strong fit for someone who can protect the company’s interests while maintaining a calm, respectful, and business-minded presence.
Why Join Us
- Join a stable, family-owned business where your work has a visible impact.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to people who value practical guidance and long-term relationships.
