What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Manager position at Residential Roofing?
The Opportunity
We are seeking a high-caliber, hands-on leader to join as a General Manager for a residential roofing company. This isn't just a job; it’s a true partnership. You will lead the operational heart of the business, focusing on high-quality replacements.
The ideal candidate is a veteran of the residential construction or roofing industry who is tired of working for someone else and wants to build a legacy.
Key Responsibilities
As the operational lead, your day-to-day will be dynamic and split between the field and strategic management:
- Sales & Estimating: Perform on-site inspections (including climbing roofs and entering attics) to provide accurate quotes and close sales directly with homeowners.
- Production Management: Oversee the full project lifecycle from contract signing to final inspection and payment collection.
- Subcontractor Leadership: Leverage your existing network to recruit, vet, and manage high-quality roofing crews. You will be responsible for scheduling and quality control.
- Project Management: Ensure jobs are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.
Qualifications
We are looking for a "player-coach" who is as comfortable on a pitch gauge as they are in a spreadsheet.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in residential homebuilding or roofing. You must deeply understand roof systems, materials, and local building codes.
- Network: An established, "ready-to-go" list of reliable residential roofing subcontractors.
- Technical Skills: Ability to safely navigate roofs and attics for inspections. Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Xactimate, AccuLynx) is a plus.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with homeowners and maintain firm, fair relationships with crews.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: A self-starter who thrives in an autonomous environment and is motivated by equity and long-term business growth.
- Licensing: Candidate must have a residential builder's or maintenance & alteration ("M&A") contractor's license.
Why Join Us?
- Autonomy: The freedom to run operations your way, backed by a partner focused on supporting your success.
- Growth Potential: Help shape the culture, brand, and future of a company from the ground up.
- Equity Ownership Opportunity: Opportunity for a meaningful stake in the company, allowing you to build real wealth as the business scales.
If you have the grit to get on a roof and the vision to lead , we want to talk to you.
