Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities. This role involves assisting clients with daily living activities and promoting their independence and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Provide transportation for clients to appointments, outings, and activities
- Administer first aid as needed and respond to medical emergencies
- Support individuals in social activities and community integration
- Prepare meals according to dietary needs and restrictions
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, such as nurses and social workers, to ensure holistic care
- Provide emotional support and companionship to individuals in nursing homes or hospice care
Skills
- Experience working with people with developmental disabilities is preferred
- Ability to drive and valid driver's license required
- Knowledge of first aid procedures and protocols
- Familiarity with senior care practices is a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in meal preparation techniques suitable for various dietary requirements
