STATUS:                                  Non-Exempt, hourly, part-time, less than 30 hours

REPORTS TO:                         Charge Nurse

GENERAL SUMMARY:

 The Staff Nurse is essentially responsible for supporting all nursing functions in the Wellness Center per the direction of the Wellness Center RN Manager by accurately and timely administration of medications, treatments, documentation and emergency calls as indicated.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

Primary Job Duties:

1. Update and review Care Plans. Administers medications.

2. Documents in clinical record accurately, clearly, and concisely, and follows Wellness Center policy for timely submission. 

3.Responsible for setting up medication reminders for IL residents.

4. Responsible for the completion of RSA CNA competencies to maintain compliance.

5. Responsible for documenting significant change assessments as soon as possible 

6. Complete discharge summaries as directed by Wellness RN 

7. Assists in direct resident care as necessary.

8. Maintains accurate documentation of medication administered and care rendered. 

9. Follows Wellness Center policy to ensure a safe and efficient practice environment. 

10. Assists with preparations and coordination of clinics for Il residents (i.e. Flu, COVID, Shingle vaccines, etc.) 

11. Establishes and maintains effective interpersonal relationships with residents, family members, significant others, nursing & medical staff as well as other disciplines.        Interacts with fellow co-workers, residents, and family member in friendly and respectful manner. 

12. Assist the Wellness Center by promoting the RSA ( Resident Services Program) to current residents, family members and significant others when necessary. 

 

Secondary Job Duties:

  1. Assists in admission and discharge procedures.

 2. Responds to resident emergency call system as indicated.

3. Makes rounds with physicians and transcribes orders.

4. Keeps physician and family aware of change in resident’s condition.

5. Maintains the self respect, personal dignity, and physical safety of each patient.

 6. Assures continuity of services and care.

 7. Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.

 8. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. LPN currently licensed by the State.
  2. Maintains CPR & First Aide certification as well as demonstrates ability to initiate in emergency situations.
  3. At least 6 months nursing experience. Geriatric involvement preferable.
  4. Wears appropriate non-slip footwear.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

 Frequent standing, stooping, bending, stretching, squatting; must be able to stand/walk for up to 70% of the work day; must be able to lift , transfer, turn and position residents weighing up to 125 lbs. unassisted, or with the assistance of one for a resident weighing over 125 lbs. May be subjected to offensive odors and combative behavior. Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. frequently, and 50 lbs. occasionally. May be exposed to communicable diseases including the HIV and HBV viruses. Must be able to work paying close attention to detail with frequent interruptions.

 

Starting Hourly rate $20/hr (new grad) Based on years of experience: $22/hr - $24/hr
