We are seeking a dependable and skilled Chief Maintenance Engineer to join our hotel team. This position is responsible for maintaining the hotel's building, guest rooms, equipment, and grounds to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for our guests and team members. The ideal candidate is hands-on, self-motivated, and experienced in troubleshooting and repairing a variety of building systems, with a strong focus on preventative maintenance and guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces.
- Maintain and repair HVAC systems, electrical systems, plumbing, swimming pool equipment, locks, lighting, and other hotel equipment.
- Complete preventative maintenance on guest rooms and hotel facilities according to established schedules.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and equipment issues to identify root causes and complete timely repairs.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints as needed.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and hotel staff.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify maintenance needs and help prevent equipment failures.
- Coordinate with the General Manager and Housekeeping Manager to ensure all guest rooms and hotel facilities are maintained to brand standards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with all safety policies, building codes, and company procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop and work environment.
- Assist with special projects, renovations, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous hotel maintenance or facilities maintenance experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general building maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair a variety of hotel equipment and systems.
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including standing, walking, climbing ladders, bending, and working in varying indoor and outdoor conditions.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts as needed.
